In 1870 the Capretz family opened a café in the main square of Barga’s oldtown, under the 16th-century merchants’ loggia in front of the town hall. At that time, the café became the meeting point of Barga’s aristocracy and intellectual life.
The current Loggia del Capretz not only will welcome you in its large outdoor and indoor spaces, but also on its small terrace that offers a unique view of Barga. On the terrace there is an epigraph dictated by the poet Giovanni Pascoli.
